What started out as a Christmas in Feb. soon turned into...Oh, no, what have I done!

Received today:EHX Clone Theory Stereo, Boss BF-3 Flanger, Boss CEB-3 Chrous, VT-Bass (whooo) and MXR Blowtorch.

How to set these bad boys up:

First pass:
AMP>VT>CT>BF-3>TBird - Sort of ok, but I can't believe the noise from the CT.

Next
AMP>VT>BF3>CEB3>TBird - not bad, great tone and many adjustment necessary to achieve the "best tone'.

Next:
AMP>MXR BT>VT>CT>BF-3>TBird - all good, many adjustments to dial it in, but the Clone Theory is so noisy.

Next:
Amp>BT>VT>BF-3>CEB-3>TBird -Wow - many options here.

Next:
VT Bass, MXR Blowtorch, Boss BF-3, Boss CEB-3 – lot of possiblities

In Short:
MXR Blow Torch a very tamable beast, great second overdrive!
Tech 21 VT Bass - Must for every rig, must be #1..
Boss BF-3 Flanger - nice I can work within these parameters, not bad.
Boss CEB-3 – everything I expected, but less. Down with the lows!
EHX CT – jury’s out, very noisy effect without compressor. Boss CEB made me a believer in Boss Pedals – restrained, yet confrontational when needed.

Anyone want a CloneTheory? Without a compressor I'm sure it's "Off".

In what way does the compressor quiet down the Clone Theory? Does it produce spikes somehow or is it a hum issue? I always thought that the Clone Theory had hum or swirl issues, and that compressors usually made those kinds of noises worse.

If you've got a tweeter, turn it off and you'll find the Clone Theory great!

clone theory has horrific noise issues, i run it with a boss limiter and i play pretty noisy stuff, most of the time with plenty of fuzz so it's not a big deal in a band context, BUT i can see that in the future, once i've got all the different types of effects i need, the clone theory, octave multiplexer and possibly the stereo pulsar (all my ehx pedals!) will come off and get replaced with some fancy custom or boutique babies...
