Ok, so I have a distortion pedal that I like but it loses some bass

...throughout the spectrum (and thus the fullness in sound compared to when I am playing clean). I have the gain maxed out and can't afford to lose too much of it.

Would the Xotic X- Blender help me retain the lows. I figure if I turn up the blend at any amount past 25%-30% (max) I will loose too much of the gain I desire. Will I still gain back enough of my bass to warrant the purchase?

Are there any other pedals better suited for the job or other solutions?

Thank you.

cheapest is the boss LS-2..a simple blender.
more expensive is the SFX xover blender thing (dont know how it's called exactley). What it does is it splits your signal in bass and mids+higs and has a fx loop for each band. You can apply what ever effects you want to whichever band of frequencies and then blend them together. The xover frequency is selectable. (this is what i would buy.. searched for a pedal like this since before it was created).

anyway..here is the link

Hmmm. As I do not think a regular blender will achieve what I need in this particular situation, the SFX looks VERY interesting. My decision will probably come down to either the SFX and the Xotic...

Thank you for the information!

id advise the SFX ... be prepared to re-arrange your pedalboard a bit though
it honestly does open up a WORLD of possibilities!!

IMO, the Xotic is horribly overpriced for what it does, especially when compared to other pedals that do exactly the same job.

I don't just want to retain the lows only in the low end spectrum, but the "bassiness" throughout the mids and the highs as well. Will the SFX do this? Thank you.

Dean Troxell

Buy the LS-2. It is the simplest and cleaned way to get a blend working and retain bass, while adding distortion.

I use it all the time... And here is my chain....

Pedulla Rapture RB-4> Boss LS-2 with A+B selected.

Chain A: Akai Deep Impact> EHX Big Muff> Line 6 FM4> Digitech Bass Synth Wah> DOD FX25> Return
Chain B: Boss OC2> Human Gear Animato> HBE Hematoma> Return

On a small combo I don't notice a difference between Xotic blender and Boss LS2, but in the band, very loud, & low...the Boss has an audible tone suck when bypassed and the fidelity (and EQing) of the Xotic is FANTASTIC. At below $200 it's not overpriced. Having a polarity switch is of benefit when using older fuzz pedals (or some new ones too like SFT, Devi Ever Karaoke Party). With the EQ you can take out or add lows or highs to the loop signal.

Well shiver me timbers, someone might be putting a capacitor for $20 in the pedal to retain the lows!!!
