Use a guitar pre-amp/effects processor as an external effects unit for bass?just wondering please any answer will be appreciated

If you mean, "Will the mfx board be damaged by running bass through it?", the answer is no. If you mean "Will I lose some bottom end, or will some controls be less suitable for bass than they are for guitar?", the answer is almost a guaranteed yes.

For cleans, don't use a guitar preamp for bass. I've done it, it don't work that well. If you're bi-amping ala Entwistle for effects, it can work just fine. Experiment. You'll eventually find what you like.

The Line 6 Pod X3 Live has patches that you can download that are bass specific so that might be something you want to look in to.

There was a period of time in the mid 90's that I used an SWR Interstellar Overdrive preamp with a footswitch for my distortion tone...it worked great!

Im just wondering I didn't want to damage anything. I have this digitech pre amp from the eighties that sounds amazing for recordings on bass.
