OLC Flipster Has Arrived

My Flipster arrived yesterday

First let me say this to all. If you're waiting on a OLC pre-build be patient. Mike of OLC is a good guy and his builder Dan was a straight up guy also. The build quality is top notch.

So if you're waiting awhile for an OLC Pre-build, rest assured you will get your pedal....it took 3 months but there was good communication and it's worth the wait. Good people.

So I got to try it a little last night and ran it through my Ampeg B100R with good results. I also have a 70's SB-12, so I have a good comparison mark.

It really does nail the vibe of the SB-12, especially the overdriven tones, which sound dead on to the SB-12 pushed.

I would recommend this pedal without reseration.

My only issue now is overkill. I have an SB-12, B100R, SFT, Linden EQ and now a Flipster. Thats a lot of Fliptop tone.

To compare....it's most like the SFT. I still find the Linden EQ is a soul mate for the B100R but it's a different animal than the SFT or Flipster. I plug straight into the SB-12 and sometimes use a Bass Big Muff with both amps. My SFT hasn't got much use lately and both the SFT and Flipster are both so good I can't at this point make a conclusion to recommend one over the other

Here are some pics.

Not at all

The Linden EQ does not have a gain or drive knob, it's just an EQ....well not "just" and EQ, it's a Baxandall EQ identical to the EQ in a vintage Ampeg. I don't know why it works so well with the B100R as opposed to using the amps own EQ and Ultra switches but it just does. I'm sure its good with lots of setups, but I find it magic with the B100R but the SB-12 doesn't need it.

Here is the OLC and SFT links by the way if you never checked it out.

I like them all but the Linden EQ is the one pedal I would keep if I could keep only one. If I knew I'd end up with the SB-12, I'd probably not have ordered the Flipster, as my original plan was to use the Flipster with my B100R and get a B-15 down the road.....but the SB-12 was too good a deal to pass up for me and I'm happy I didn't.

That said, I just played it a little more and its sweet!!
