I recently sold my old BMS and bought the new XO model, but there's a very obvious difference between the two:
On the old one, it would sustain my note at a constant volume until the pedal could no longer track it, then it would suddenly gate. On the new one, the output decays as the input does.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a BAD THING. The old one sounded huge because it would maintain the volume throughout the filter sweep. This new one weeds out too early.
Does anybody know if there's something I can adjust inside the XO model to make it behave like the older one? |

The ranges on the filter section sliders are all very different. I think it is possible to dial in some of the sounds from the original BMS, but they don't seem to sound quite as good. And the rate slider is just impossible to set right now, because 50% of the travel does next to nothing, and at max you get a longer sweep than on the old model. So basically there's a 3-5mm stretch of the slider where lots of useful sounds live that used to be a 25mm stretch of the slider on the old BMS.
Bleh... Need to spend more time with this thing to figure out exactly what's different. It definitely doesn't sound as good as the old one though. |

When I got it and did the little review on here, I was able to spend more than an hour messing/tweaking it. I don't notice the issue that the OP is referencing, but kev's issue I have noticed. I actually look at it as a 1UP to the old model...
I just keep all of my settings printed out on a small paper w/ my board. I do miss a little of that warmth that accompanied the old BMS. |

The sliders on the old box had some resistance, whereas this has more sensitive sliders and they are really easy to knock out of position. And the stomp felt better on the old one. Even the paint job looks cheap - really thin all over, and the base isn't quite the same shade.
I'm considering getting another old one so I can A/B them properly. |

If I used a higher-gain bass without changing the internal gain setting I would get greater sustain. I ended up setting it for my lowest gain bass and just going with that. |
