old Q-TRON..love it or well....

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all fellow bassists out there! I've had my old Q-Tron for a little over 2 years now and really dig the funky wetness i can get with it. Anyone here either like it, not like it,or somewhere in betwen? Also while i'm here any cool settings reccomended? Lastly is the XO Q-TRON worth looking into getting or is my big beast of a pedal the better of the two. I would not get rid of this pedal as it was my first effect pedal but just wondering.....

My favorite Q-trons are the older Mini and the big classic chassis models. They seem to have a wetter sound with more response. I have the XO Q-Tron + and will probably be selling it as I don't use it much. My settings vary depending one which bass I am using.

I love my old Q-tron! It's so responsive, so funky. I really like the down sweep. I keep the drive on with the gain knob at 5:00, Low range, LP, peak at 9:00. This works pretty well in up or down mode, with either my Stingray 5 copy or my fretless SX 5 string P. The bypass sounds fine to my ears.

I still wuv mine, but I don't use filters live anymore, something always happens, and I go back to using a wah.

I love the old big-box Q-Tron, really love it. I think most users' complaints stem from a volume jump switching it on (when it's in "Boost" mode) but it was never a problem for me.

I swapped it out because I was using filters a lot, I needed something more versatile for live use and the Q-Tron was taking up too much space, but if I was recording and just needed a funk envelope filter part my first choice would be a Q-Tron.

Dude, the moment I turn my Mini-Q (NOT Micro-Q) on, my Stingray 5 drips with chicken-greased funk. 2 things to bear in mind: The output is a bit louder when turned on, and the Drive and Q knobs are VERY sensitive! Otherwise, there is NO loss of low end, and it's actually a fantastic pedal for bass solos, if you get a setting.

I like my old style qtron. It is really hard to find the sweet spot. I guess that is what I don't like about it.

That and I play classic rock.
