Exclamation OMG Not Another Which Distortion Thread DUN DUN DUN!!!

I, Like quite a few people that i see posting on here am after a new distortion and am not sure what to get, so like others I'm going to be vague and hope someone reply's with something helpful.

Time to digress, atm i'm using 2 distortion pedals (i use the term distortion loosely to cover distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedals)

So I'm using a Russian Sovtek Big Muff (the green one) and its epic i absolutely love it and couldn't be happier with it, I've got an extremely aggressive tone on it which is just what i want from it.

As for my other pedal i was using the EHX Little Big Muff with the sustain and tone on about 3-4 and get a lot more bass-y-ier, smoother tone.

It did the job OK but wasn't prefect but this was only while i was using it through a Ashdown MAG300, when i upgraded my head to an Ampeg SVT-CL the LBM just did'nt sound the same through it was just boomy not very defined and just had to go.

So atm i've replaced it with a Proco Rat which i borrowed off a friend. Great pedal but its just not doing the job i want it too so i looking for something to replace that with.

So I'm after a distortion which which has great bassy tone, If the Big muff was a screaming banshee i need the other to be a purring lion (not that lions can purr but growl would be the grown description)

I've been looking looking at the Crowether Audio Prunes and Custard and T-rex Bass Juice but there is no way of trying out these pedals in the UK which out buying them as no one has them in store any where close to me, so I'm just going on other peoples ratings.

So anybody know any pedals that might be worth trying out, or any opinions on these other pedals would be great all help appreciated.

Alex

I would say that the Prunes and Custard is probably not what you're looking for. It's not just a fuzz, it has this envelope effect that creates nasty squalls.

I haven't played the Bass Juice, so I have no opinion there. I found that the Turbo Rat with the filter turned most of the way up could do a round, purring distortion. I'm currently using a The Syle Umiom, which is a similar type of distortion, but with a lot more knobs and switches for different tones. A lot of people here really like the Tech 21 XXL, but that is a very aggressive distortion, too. Maybe what you're looking for is more of a heavy overdrive tone. Maybe the EHX English Muff'n? I'm using the DHA VT-1 for overdrive at the moment, and that is a fantastic pedal, but I'd say its more of a light overdrive

if you like the muff tone, but want a more cutting version, look at the Earthbound Audio Supercollider, Way Huge Swollen Pickle, or Electro Harmonix Bass Big Muff.

I just bought a Way Huge Pork Loin last week and it is one of the if not THE nicest pedal I have ever heard. Granted I dont use alot of effects but this pedal sounds good.
