HOLY PHATNESS BATMAN!

Got it today....what a great box. You all can keep the POG's, the Octamizers, MXR's and such.

And the octave up os a very, VERY pleasant suprise. I am able to coax almost Brassmaster like tones out of it.

'Nuff said....

Octron is great indeed. It's my second favourite pedal after my B:Assmaster

I'm thinking about ordering one of these. Anyone have some sound samples with it on bass?

Still fiddling with the trimpots.

I am not capable of posting sound clips, but I think there are plenty around.

Grygrx had a review thread a couple years ago:
Foxrox Octron - Now with Samples

That thread has this sample from Zac2944 that I think demonstrates the Octron very well:

http://www.grygrx.net/music/pedal_de...ron/octron.mp3

The clip goes

Dry 100%
Dry 100% + Lower Octave 50%
Dry 100% + Lower Octave 100%
Dry 100% + Lower Octave 100% + Upper Octave 50%
Dry 100% + Lower Octave 100% + Upper Octave 50% + Flanger
Dry 100% + Lower Octave 100% + Upper Octave 50%
Dry 100% + Lower Octave 100%
Lower Octave 100%
Dry 70% + Lower Octave 20% (I messed up here trying to get to Dry 100% without messing up the bass line)
Dry 100%

While I do like my Octron I'd love it if the sound didn't occasionally cut out when I hit the bypass switch. I wouldn't mind a little more volume out of it either, I often find I only use the octave down at 100%. I've heard foxrox offers a mod for more volume but I'm not sure.

I love this box too. Tracks amazingly. Still need a digital one for when I need a clean sound, though. I would like to try the Octron2 though, and a wet/dry blend would be nice...... maybe I can mod these onto my octron? Don't dare to touch it, though.

What do you mean? Octron has got separate volumes for dry and wet signals, so why would you want additional blend control?

My bad! I meant wet/dry outputs. Then, I could send the dry through my standard effects chain to bass amp, and an octaved-up signal through my guitar chain to guitar amp.

At home, I once tried using my Blackstar HT-Dist (which happened to have two outputs) as a signal splitter and treated the original and octave up separately, it was pretty cool but not something I would actually want to carry a separate pedal around for.

Another thing I don't really like about blending the two signals directly is that when this is before an OD or distortion, when the octave kicks in, the signal strength goes way up and it overdrives a lot more. Sometimes it's what I want, sometimes this gets too fuzzy.

I agree with everything in this thread.
I LOVE the Octron2, even just the red/norm channel just fattens up your tone in subtle but "miss it when its off" way.

I can't remember how I set my trim pots, Trust YOUR ears and def. try it in conjunction with your other fuzzes and dirts to make sure your settings stack well.

Unfortunately, the ring thing replaced mine on the board.
I am still having a hard time bringing myself to sell it though.

I just recently sold off my Octron 2. If an octave-down only version of the Octron were made, I'd definitely be sold on it.

Thread hijack:
The above being affirmed, which analog octaver would you say sounds most like the Octron's octave down?

Set correctly (with the octave filter rolled back a bit) the Octamizer is the closest to my ears.

Next (IMO) would be the EBS Octabass in Low mode. It's a bit grittier but close in tone.

After that? I don't know. Maybe the MXR using the Girth knob but it's a flabbier sound where the Octron is low but has a "thump" to it.

I was just gonna start a thread like this. "Octron: Holy Crappe!" or something. Looks like there already is a fan club. I've had mine and use it for guitar (Octron>EF>Phaser) for a faux-synth effect. I literally just thought of plugging my bass into it today. Talk about a duh. Now I have a faux-synth bass!
Really cool.
I set the filter on the upper octave and not too much gain, with a little bump on the tone. The low octave tone is all the way up.
This is my fourth one, and it seems to have more volume boost than my original one.
