Onboard Bass Xciter

Would it be possible to mount an Aphex Bass Xctiter on a bass, just like any other preamp module? I've been employing one in my chain for a while, and I just adore it. Works like a charm, without getting you to run out of headroom. It'd be just awesome to have one onboard instead of an onboard e.q. .

Any ideas?

The Xciter works best at the end of a signal chain, so putting it at the beginning would be counter productive. I don't really think it would be feasable to mount the Xciter in the control cavity of a bass, either, because I believe that the pots are mounted on the board (although I could very well be wrong about that).

By the way, the Xciter is not really a preamp circuit. It doesn't work the same way as a normal EQ. Also, you do run out of headroom if you're running a really hot signal into it, which is why there is the 12db pad on it.

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy Anything is possible broooo. but what they said.. an xciter would be bestest at the end of yo' chain. Try it though, it'd be pretty unique, kinda like my valve preamp idea :P

Right, it's not an eq, as far as I know, it just deals with harmonics. I run a passive bass into it. I'm happy without any equalizing, the Xciter does it for me. Hence I got this idea of the Xciter circuitry on a bass, feeding it with a 9V battery, just like any active bass.

No way I can do it myself, but it'd sure need major surgery to get the circuitry out of that die-cast metal housing.

Thanks for the replies
