Which one?

I'm currently trying to get the Joe Principe tone to do that I'm gonna buy two new pieces of gear:

- Tech 21 Bass Driver DI

- Seymour Duncan Basslines SPB-3

I have the American Standard P-Bass. I know Joe uses these two pieces of gear, but I have to buy one and then the other. My question is which one should I buy first? Which one influences the sound the most? Which one gets me closer to his tone?

If your amp doesn't do a decent bit of growl then I would do the Tech 21. You may even be able to EQ it to make up for the differences between your current pickup and the SPB-3.
