Which one last pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,

Currently, I have the following pedals on my board:

1) EBS Microbass II
2) EBS Wahone
3) MXR Carbon Copy
4) Mooger Fooger Bass Murf
5) EHX Bass Big Murf
6) Korg DT-10 Tuner
7) Boss Bass Chorus

I have spare for just one more pedal:

Should I put in:

Apex Punch Factory

Xotic Bass BB Preamp

MXR Bass Octave?

I'd have the octaver. Can't imagine a board without one.

+1 for the oct: i'd go with a micro pog for "state-of-the-art" and crystal clear polyphonic trackin, even if oc-2 is, imho, unbeatable for the fatness of its low octave

the xOG's aren't exactly 'crystal clear' when playing chords, they are still a bit warbly/chorusy.

OP- That board is screaming for an octaver, easy choice!

It really depends on what you want more. I find a good TS style overdrive like the Xotic BB to be essential, maybe moreso than the octave. But you may be able to live without it since you have 2 channels on the Microbass to get your dirty boost going!

Looks like Octaver is a suggested choice.

How should I link it then?

I'm thinking of the following:

Korg DT-10
Octaver
EHX BBM
EBS Wah One
EBS Microbass II

Then in the effects loop of the Microbass II
Mooger Fooger Bass Murf
MXR Carbon Copy
Boss Bass Chorus

Too bad Pedal Power only has 8 outputs, else I will want to put the Punch Factory and Xotic BB Preamp inside too

You can always daisy chain one of those outputs or put a Y splitter on them to power more than one pedal. Chain looks good though, although I personally prefer no buffers before my fuzz and my fuzz before my octave. Not saying that's the 'right' way to go, just how I do it!

I think you have the right idea already for a synthy sound. The octaver first in your chain with no dry signal and the -1oct knob on full into the fuzz and then wah in lowpass, or into the bass murf on Animation #1 and lfo, or on Animation #2-12 with the envelope around 4 or 6 will give you some cool synth sounds. You can also chorus it, and/or put the lowpass after the murf and/or chorus... Experiment!

Maybe an EQ after the Big Muff to help shape its tone more for when you need to make it really ballsy and low or more aggressive and biting with the mids.

After a hard long tot.

I'm going to revamp my setup again.

The chain now will be:

Korg DT-10 Tuner
Aphex Punch Factory Compressor
EHX BMS
EBS Wah One
EBS Microbass II
(inside the Effects loop of the EBS Microbass II)
Mooger Fooger Bass Murf
MXR Carbon Copy Delay
Boss CE-2B Bass Chorus

Hopefully it will solve my requirements and stop my gas =)

There's no such thing as the "one last pedal"

I'd say between the BB and the Octaver.
I have the BB and it's amazing, it really is.
Now I'm waiting for the new MXR Bass Octaver to be instock in stores.
