So I have an empty space in my rack and am wondering if there is a descent cheap Bass Synth module out there. Any ideas? I am somewhat new to rack units so any advice is appreciated. I really like messing around with melodic bass synth tones. My rack's current setup is:
Furman - MD-8 power conditioner
Alesis - Quadraverb GT multi effect processor
BOSS - WS-100 Wireless System
Peavey - Q431 31 band EQ
Korg - DTR-1000 Tuner
On the Floor:
Arion Distortion pedal
Cheap chorus pedal
DOD Octoplus pedal

| | Bass lines like a big, funky giant | | Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Southern MN | | | A fellow bassist I know made a fake unit that had several toggle switches labeled "funk", "soul", "rock", "country", etc. It also had two big rotary knobs; the black one was labeled "style" and the red one was labeled "suck". He turned on one or more of the toggle switches depending on which type of song he was playing, adjusted the style knob to roughly equal the difficulty of the bass part, and turned the suck knob up or down depending on how well he thought he - or the rest of the band - was playing.
It was a very interesting conversation piece, and it absolutely confused all the "experts" who tried to talk to him between sets. You know the "experts" I'm talking about - the ones who want to tell him why their gear is better than his - but of course their gear is not at the gig because they're not playing. He would say something like "Yeah, this rig is really better for country" and then he'd flip the "country" switch and then say "I hope I don't suck too much on the next tune" and then he'd give the suck knob a quarter-turn one way or the other. The "expert" would never ask him what that contraption was, because he was, after all, an "expert" and he should have known what it was! |

| | | | i know some guys get an antares auto tune rack system. just so when they get out of tune during a song, it can correct it until they tune again. but thats a bit silly IMO.
(though i think a fretless with autotune would sound kind of awesome)
maybe a BBE sonic Maximixer? i cant tell you what they do, but i just know they make things sound better. like deeper and clearer... its hard to say. but they are cheap and interesting.
