I've had my XO BMS for about a month now, and the only complaint I have is that it has a lot of trouble with my low open E. There's no problem with any of the other open strings, and no problem on the F on the first fret. On the E, it registers the attack multiple times, coming out all muddy and farty, and there's no way around it with just an adjustment of the trigger slider. So I was wondering if someone could help me choose one of these options:
- I suck and my technique playing the open E sucks. I deserve the sound I get because I'm not keeping the sting in control.
- There's something wrong with the set up of my bass.
- BMSs have trouble with Low E's
Really, I'd just like to know if they're finicky on open E for anyone else, or if I can fix this by working on my playing. It's a pretty annoying problem.
Thanks!

| | | | This is part of the reason that I sold my BMS. I'm a 5 string player and it just wouldn't track my bottom 6 notes.
My akai deep impact manages to get down to my low B without problems, maybe it's a shortcoming of analogue tracking?
By the way, kevteop I think it was you I sold my BMS to via ebay, have you been enjoying the pedal? |

What happens if you let up the sensitivity/trigger? Interesting if the same thing happens as on my '25... |

My solutions:
1. Don't have the suboctave set so low for when you're playing notes on your B string below E
or
2. Don't set the stop frequency as low
or
3. Play a higher note and set the suboctave and stop frequency low and allow the suboctave to do the suboctave work
I have different settings for every song that I use my BMS in and I tend to not set it for the super low suboctaves when I'm play anything on my B string below the E, otherwise as you all know, it sounds like you're underwater... |
