Orange Squeezer clone HELP

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all:

I recently purchased and built a OS clone from General Guitar Gadgets. The OS makes noise when connected to a power supply, I tried one filtered and regulated but still noise.

With the battery is totally silent, any help?

Could be a ground loop problem. You could try using shielded cable on the input and out put and make sure you ground the shield. Also you could try adding a capacitor + side to the hot of the power jack and - to ground and possibly a diode to help filter the power supply. This seems to be a fairly common problem in a lot of the DIY forums.

The battery not working is almost definitely a wiring issue.

When using this sort of power filter the clear glass end of say a 1n914 will go to the power jack + and the striped end goes to the circuit board. Typically a 100uf cap will work You could try up to a 220 but the lower the value the better. Maybe start with a 47uf and see if that clears it up.
