Order Of Effects

I did a search, but came up with nothing. I was wondering what the "correct" order for distortion and modulation (delay, chorus, reverb, etc) effects is? Distortion first, or other effects first in a signal chain?

With those effects, Id go Bass > Distortion > Chorus > Delay or reverb > Amp

My actual pedals right now are (in this order):
1-Korg Pitchblack
2-Hardwire Metal Distortion
3-Russian Muff
Pretty basic, but I'm looking to add more modulation type effects into my rig. Is there any difference where you place these pedals, since 75% of the time a distortion will be used with a reverb or a chorus or whatever. I'm in a drum and bass trippy, stoner type metal band.

Yes. Distorted chorus sounds very different to chorused distortion. Just swap stuff around until you like the sounds that come out, but yeah most people prefer distortion/fuzz early in the chain with modulation effects later (otherwise the modulation effects tend to get a bit washed out).

Thanks. I was thinking exactly what you guys recomended. I got to talking with a know-it-all salesman at GC today while looking at pedals and I started to get a little confused.

as a general rule should fuzzes go after OD so as you go along the chain you have the ones with the most gain last???

hope this post makes sence to someone I couldn't quite say what I was thinking.

it's an iterative process.... there's a few rules of thumb, e.g. that distortion then filter sounds different from filter then distortion, but most of it's just plugging stuff in and trying different combinations.

I understand what you're saying. I think it's mostly a personal preference thing as to what order you put your gain based effects in. Personally, I put my ODs first, then my fuzzes, and then my distortions. I would rather distort an overdriven sound than overdrive a distorted sound.
