Lightbulb Other effects using a Wah housing?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to effects, and I'm always looking for something different. I've noticed when using wah before distortion it almost sounds as if it is getting more distorted, then cleaning up going back and forth on the wah treadle, and wondered, what if I had a distortion effect in a wah pedal instead of the wah?

Is there any reason why I couldnt get a cheap wah or volume pedal, and swich the electronics for a distortion, such that the gain knob was run by the treadle, and have the other knobs poke out the side (like the on the dunlop 105Q) that way I could accent small parts here and there with distortion in a song without having to keep stomping like crazy on a footswitch?

I have seen few pedals like this that arent a wah/volume/expression pedal, like the tychobrahe pedalflanger, and really want to try something like this.

Any insights?

Cool, and cool, def have to scour for some clips of these.
No distortions that I can find so I suppose I might as well take a stab at it myself, worst case scenario is it fails as bad as my passive distortion circuit did.

I can't think of any reason why not. BTW, a Crybaby or anything in a crybaby housing is a bad idea. They have a spring to return them to the heel down position when you get off. Morleys use a optical sensor instead of a pot, so using a Morley housing would take some extra work and knowlege of electronics.

You should probably just get a wah enclosure and use that. It will be much cheaper and you won't have to go through the trouble of gutting the thing

As long as the board fits in the wah enclosure housing, you're golden.

Check craigslist and ebay for broken pedals, expression pedals, and wahs. I've always wanted to do a delay in a wah enclosure. Go for it man!
