Question The OTHER Sansamp Character Series Pedals?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone tried out the rest of the Sansamp character series other than the VT Bass?

I'm particularly interested in hearing about the British and California pedals. Two of my favourite bassists use a vintage Marshall plexi guitar head, blended with their regular bass amps and I thought it might be fun to try one of these guitar-orientated pedals blended with the VT Bass. In case you were wondering, the bassists and amps in question are Robert DeLeo and Duff McKagan, who record with a Fender Bassman and GK 2001RB respectively. I wonder if it'd be possible to get close to DeLeo's tone with a British and a Blonde Sansamp.

Also, I use the "California" setting on the GT2 for some nice synthetic distortion bordering on fuzz, it'd be interesting to see how the California pedal compares in this role, as well as blended with my regular VT Bass signal.

They need to bring out a programmable pedal that has all of the character series in it. I'd buy it!

Now that would rule.

The GT2 is a great pedal, the Tri-AC even better, but after trying the VT Bass I really want those kind of sounds plus the character knob to mess around with.

As much as I'd like a programmable VT, when I think programmable, I think of having to punch in numbers for parameters instead of turning dials, and you never get the degree of control that you do in the pedal. So now I'm debating whether I would want one and lose the flexibility. I guess that question will get answered when they make one.

That's a good point, hopefully they'll just add a couple of extra footswitches (plus a switch to go between different character editions for a multi-amp version) and leave the other controls the same as on the regular pedals, basically like with the BDDI.

I'm guessing for a multi-amp version, providing every character series pedal in one box, to keep everything analogue they'd need a largish enclosure to fit all the circuits. I'd rather that than something smaller and digital though.
