Outrageous Bass Fuzz/Distortion/Overdrive?

Sign in to disble this ad
Now i know there are plenty of topics on different Fuzzes and dirt pedals, but i haven't seen any on the most ridiculous dirt pedals out there. Currently I'm looking for something that punches you in the face when i step on the switch. The tone i'm using now uses a Bass BMP on the dry setting for a little bit of added dirt, followed by a sansamp PBDDI, so you can imagine its pretty dirty to begin with, not over the top or anything though. I want a pedal that will cut through the mix, in a stoner/doom/metal type sounding band for that added oomph when i need it.

Now i've looked into supercolliders, Muskets, swollen pickles, and another Big muff. Current i think the Musket is on top, as obviously i'll need a lot of mids to cut through the soundscape. However, Supercolliders are used in reference to a lot of tons i like, such as Electric wizard etc.

The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on a Musket V2 is that there aren't any great demo's on the net of a Musket on a bass. I've seen the Valerus one, but i'm still not 100% on it.

TL;DR big sounding, in-your-face, dirt boxes.

If you like the Electric Wizard sound think about getting a Hyper Fuzz FZ-2. The only problem is that is cuts out a lot of the bass signal.

I bet Valerus would be eager to demo it more maybe? Since he loves it so dang much

I would avoid all those Muff Type Things if you want to cut through a heavy mix.

Wounded Paw Attack Goat
Prescription Electronics Depth Charge
Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz
Malekko B:Assmaster

Any one of those should do the trick.

I'm thinking your begging for a Steel Leather into a fuzz you already have.

That thing is designed as a cut machine, and I imagine (though I'm not certain) that it would add some defined nasty to any fuzz pedal it is run into.

The Zeibek (formerly Electronix) Gemini is capable of some very heavy ear-crushing sounds. I also like the 3XFX Fatman for extreme dirt.

The Wattson Classic Electronics Fuzz cuts like a knife and doesn't have that synthy character to it.

I can record some sound clips of the Musket V2 with my Digitech Jamman but since it isn't in a mix with guitar and drums I don't know how useful it would be to you in determining how well it cuts.

True, but it would be a "starting point"
