Overdrive with a blend pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone here use a blend pedal with their overdrive pedal? I've been toying with the idea but it may be just an idea that I need to drop. I have three overdrive pedals right now, an Analogman TS9DX, an MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe, and a Death by Audio Interstellar Overdriver. The Death by Audio would kill with a blend so I was wondering how a blend would change the other pedals.

I experimentally use a blend pedal with any and all pedals that I use or try, just to find out how well blending works in each case. I also experiment with flipping the phase on the wet channel of the blend, every time, to see which phase alignment sounds best.

The results vary dramatically in every case. So the only thing for you to do is try it with each of your pedals and see what you think. It is definitely worth the effort, but there are no overall results to be expected.

My Prescription Electronics Depth charge has a good blend on it. Also I run two amps because I use a lot of effects so I always have a clean anp going. Thats my way of blending.

Now that is proper blending sir.

I would do sorta the same (if I'd have the money, perhaps over time):
A rig for my clean/overdrive/fuzz sounds, I want to choose either of these three at the time I need it.
A smaller rig for effects such as EHX POG (in order), Synthesizer pedal,...

I have not tried one, but the Maxon OD820 Pro looks interesting. There is also the sparkle drive.

You can also just get a barge blend loop, and blend any pedal you like.

the D*A*M Ezekiel 25:17 has a blend knob. Very high quality dirt pedal with 4 different dirt settings, from overdrive to wayyyyy over the top.

I didn't bond with it (it was too "clean" and not "sloppy" enough for me, I like my bass dirt falling apart!) but it's a great product for those going for a tight sound.
