haven't tried or even heard the Wilson FB.
today, while i was driving around running errands, i realized that since the Emma ReezaFratzitz doesn't have a true bypass, but rather a buffered one, it makes it a great candidate for a clean blend. so i just added a true bypass and a blend control this evening. this makes the pedal even better than it was before and it has moved up to my top 10 bass overdrive distortions now.
so here's a pic of the way that i have it set up now............... |

Flipster: | For those interested in the Flipster, Runoffgroove has come out with a "refined" version called the Ginger: http://www.runoffgroove.com/ginger.html
I've built both the Flipster and Ginger, and I definitely prefer the Ginger. Has all the good qualities of the Flipster, but more "interesting" overdrive character and somewhat more amp-like. |

i also built a fender blender and it's a pretty crazy effect and sounds really good, but, IMO, it's not your everyday overdrive/distortion pedal. |

| | Registered User | | | | | I have a question: my rig consists of some pedals and a DI, no amp. Have you tried running any of these direct? I'm interested in the black 65 and RAH mainly. Otherwise, which of these would you recommend that has a low-pass filter control? I know the pork loin does, but that's the only one I'm sure of...
PS- Thank you for the awesome thread and soundclips! |

for a good sounding OD using it direct, i think that an Xotic RC, or the Runoffgroove 'ginger' would work really well.
i just got my ginger boxed up tonight and i LOVE it! it captures the ampeg tones (clean or dirty) really well and is much more dynamic and responsive than a VT pedal.
here's a couple of pics of it: |

| | | Has anyone tried a Wampler Pinnicle on bass? I've tried cutting the highs on a Rusty Box while boosting them on a distortion pedal via Boss Line Selector, kind of like fake bi-amping. Unfortunately I haven't found any distortion pedals that are able to make this idea sound good
I guess an EQ pedal could help that but I DON'T WANNA!!! |

here's a couple of pics of it: |
