I had one before, i really liked it minus the size and loss of my fundamental tone. Not to mention its really more of a distortion than overdrive, but it can get brutal.
after looking at that schematic, with three TL072 opamps and three J113 JFETs it would be a pretty complicated build, and since you can get them for only $99, i'd rather buy one than build one from scratch.
I've mentioned earlier my Grombass distortion pedal.
Here is a clip of my Grombass. I use my Ric 4003 (on vintage mode) and the ROS function.
Now, I do not have a proper bass amp, so I amp emulation in iOS/ iPad. I use Jamup XT software and as said the Redhead.
I use the Focusrite iTrack Solo which have to input channels. Both channels are mixed in Jamup.
So, bridge pup is going through the Grombass before going into the left channel of the iTrack, neck pup goes directly into the right channel.
BTW, here's another one that I built, an HBE Hematoma. I found the stock circuit to be a little dark so I modded mine for more top end. IMO, it's a really good sounding bass OD now that can go from clean, to slight grit, to ALOT of distortion.
Hi enjoying all the info in your overdrive/fuzz quest......
Just wondering if you have tried The Demeter Fuzzulator or Overulator? I've owned the Fuzzulator it has two types of "fuzz''..very warm great with bass.
Also enjoyed the website !

thanks!
I can't say that I've ever tried either one of those yet, but from the clips on youtube, IMO they both sound really good.
I drew up a vero for a 'rusty box' (which is a Traynor TS-50 preamp) a little while ago, and am in the process of building one up now. hopefully, it'll work when i test it tomorrow.
You found a source for those MPS8598/MPS8599 transistors? I haven't found a place in Europe yet that stocks them.
Concerning the Diesel Dawg: The schematic could be simplified as there are alot of reduntent buffers and stages. Just giving it a quick glance one could definitly ommit one dual opamp, maybe more.

Good luck. I just picked one up a little while ago. I think it and the Sanford and Sonny BB are my two favorite pedals atm. I would be interested to hear your pedal. Are you putting a second gain/boost switch? If so, are you connecting a volume pot to said switch?

Subscribed! I loved my Rusty Box when I had it. If you'd like, I can build one using your layout just as a comparison build!
