Overdrive Pedal Shootout?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does this issue really exist?
...and if it does - where can a bloke like myself get ahold of a copy?
I cannot find hide nor hair of mention of this anywhere on the 'net, except at BassPlayer.com.

Perhaps check at larger news stands or bass specialty shops for special issues. I dunno know just how comprehensive a BP shoot out would be, I'm sure they would do their best, but there are so simply so many pedals out there major brands, diy, boutique & small builders it would be a full time task to keep up- much less doing a true shoot out. Even some of the gear pages are much less than complete, try finding a review for Hjart Muller Lo|Fat for example, my current fave, they're almost nonexistent.

In all honesty I reckon there's better information to be had in this fine forum. A magazine is never going to be honest if something totally blows, and in any case- it's only someone's opinion- just like here.
While we're onto opinions-
I'll suggest the xotic bb bass, fulltone bassdrive (at 18volts, 9 is a comparative waste of time). The Aguilar pedal seems fairly deadly but I can't get hold of one to try over here.
Good luck with the magazine hunt though.

I have it.
Its...okay.
Are you referring to the Overdrive pedal part?..or the issue in general.
Cuz you really cant get any useful information on a padal ...without hearing it.

Th OD shootout was an interest - but being on the newer side of bass - the whole issue seemed to look as if it had some decent info in it.

I just wish BP would send these special issues to their subscribers.

Thanks all.

You can read the overdrive roundup free online from the Tone & Technology issue at bassplayer.com. The OD content is exactly the same in the Hard Rock & Heavy Bass special, minus a few of the newer pedals featured in HR&HB.

This issue is just a rehash of old articles. There is honestly more info on OD pedals in an issue of musicians friend. Which is sad.
