I've been searching around for a new overdrive and I think I've decided I need one with low and high controls. I'm using a Boss ODB-3 and Fulltone OCD but the Boss sounds a little too artificial and the OCD just doesn't give me the low end response I need.
So, while the ODB has these controls, and I can get a decent sound out of it, I'm looking for a pedal that isn't so..I don't know..artificial or whatever.
So what's out there? Digitech Bass Drive? Ibanez Phat Hed? Ibanez TSB?

| | | | Aguilar agro. Done. By far the best sounding overdrive out there. It has a presence knob (>4KHz boost/cut) and a contour knob (900Hz boost/cut).

I've noticed these are around the $150 range, which is steep, but if it gets me the tone I'm looking for it's worth it. I'll see if I can find a Digitech or Ibanez anywhere to see if that gets it done (I'm sure they pale in comparison to the more boutique options, but might as well give em a go).
It's tough not being able to do a hands on comparison though...

I keep the gain down around 8 oclock and the same for the blend knob. Actually I can't remember if they call it a blend but that's basically what it does and I can get just a touch of nice overdrive while still retaining great low end bass tone. One thing I've noticed is the controls a VERY sensitive and it's easy to go overboard and have it sound artificial |

The overdrive part of this pedal is OK, it adds a moderate amount of dirt to the signal.
It is also a DI.

So far the front runners seem to be The Xotic BB and the Bad Monkey (modded if possible). Now how's the BB more of a distortion than overdrive compared to the RC? Can I get a run down of these sounds?
As far as the ODB3, I usually do use the blend to keep a more organic tone. It's getting the job done, but I'm just curious as to what else is out there.
