Question Overdriving the Multi-Effects Bass Pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
Had an old Charvel bass for years into a Digitech BP200 pedal, had my sounds and was fairly happy, but I recently took steps to improve my quality of equipment. Bought a G&L L2000 bass. The pickups are amazing, but appear to be overdriving the BP200, such that, my sound is like crap.

Took the BP200 out of my signal chain and replaced with an old compressor I had in storage, so my chain is now the L-2000, compressor, SansAmp Programable DI to amp and sound is so much better, yet programable limited. I use two presets on the SansAmp, the third is silent. Need other effects and miss the old BP200.

With the old BP200, there is not a way to control input variation in this unit. My guitar player has a newer multi-purpose pedal, not sure of make, but he has the ability to vary the input parameters coming to the unit. Is there a multi-effects pedal that would work with these powerful L-2000 pickups, or am I just forgeting something or barking up wrong tree?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Some multi's do have an input level control. I bet your compressor has an output level control, so if you put it in front of the multi you can use it to reduce the level going in.
