Owners of the MXR EVH Flanger!

I'd love to hear what that pedal does for bass, especially coupled with a quality overdrive, whether a tube preamp or a pedal. Biamping with this pedal ought to be loads of fun.

Anyone?

It, uh... flanges.

Never used either of the MXR Flangers with bass, actually. Although I'm sure there are a few threads on this board about it already...

Aha! I knew I'd heard it on bass before: MXR Flanger SOUNDCLIPS

It's the regular one, but the EVH is very similar (IIRC, they added a switch to access the "Unchained" preset, and the circuit design is more like the old MXR Flanger).

I assume the EVH Flanger is much like the Reissue flanger that I've got with the preset switch. I can tell you the MXR Flanger sounds better with a higher quality overdrive than what I used in those soundclips (an MXR Bass DI). Plus I didn't showcase what it's really useful for, to me anyways, which is a dark rubbery flange tone that adds slight depth and motion to the bass. It's really cool for that, but be warned you will lose some treble with it, so if you're going for a real bright flange tone the MXR may not be for you.

Thanks, assboglin, unfortunately I can't get the putfile stuff to run on my Mac.
