P.E Depth Charge - Not Working

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, just wondering if anyone here would be able help me,

I just bought a brand new Depth Charge (dark blue, green led, red and white writing...), had it shipped all the way to Australia and it's D.O.A.

LED goes on, but I get no signal at all. I get my dry sound when the unit is bypassed. I checked the battery and my leads but they were fine.

When I tried a power supply I just got a low hum out of the unit which altered in frequency/volume etc when I fiddled with the knobs a bit, but no signal.

I had a quick look at the input/output jacks but I couldn't see anything wrong with them either.

Anyway if someone can think of something else I can try I'd appreciate it, 'cos posting it back is just a major hassle, it'll take weeks to get it or another unit back, and then there's the postage costs etc...

Are these units generally a bit flaky?

I had that once with an envelope filter and it turned out that I had put the cables in the wrong way around, ie I had put the instrument cable from my bass into the OUTPUT jack and the cable to my amp into the INPUT jack.

Also make sure that the jacks aren't grounding out.

Thanks guys. Neither of those seemed to be the issue so I've posted it back for replacement. Looking forward to getting a new one!
