Vocoders in general are extremely difficult to use with bass, as the human voice is usually not in the same frequency range as bass. If you vocalize low, and play high notes on the bass, it can work out though. Paia project devices work well, but are sometimes a bit noisy or a bit flimsy depending on how you build them.
