Patch Cables- Suggestions

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. I'm looking to revamp my pedalboard with all new patch cables and I'm just looking for some suggestions. I've used Ernie Ball and Dimarzio in the past but I'm just looking to see if there is anything out there that may be better. Which ones have good sound quality? Which are the best-bang for the buck? I've seen in some threads that bayoucables.com is pretty good. What exactly would you recommend if you were to tell me to buy from there? Thanks guys.

George L

For my pedal board, I use George L's cables. You can buy raw cable in the total length you want, buy pairs of rt angle (or straight) plugs, and the plugs attach simply by screwing them together (no soldering). He also sells "kits" especially for boards (though I did my own measurements and bought parts individually).

The cable is thinner than most, so you can make short cables that easily bend into position for placing pedals close together on a board. If you ever have to repair an end connection, you just snip it and re-screw the plug on. Very cool. I also use a long run of George L from my board to my amp...I like the small. thin cable (less weight and stores easier). I zip tie my board/amp cable with AC cord, and end up with a single cable run from the board back to the amp

I use bayoucables for speaker/amp connections, and they are great, too.

Can't say I have done any technical comparison with George L or bayou or anything else...but the endorsement of many proved good enough for me.

GeorgeL's here too. Easy to make cables in the exact lengths you want, small and flexible. No audible tone-loss.

My first choice was George L's, but my local shop ordered some Planet Waves pedalboard kits in when I inquired what they could get so I used those instead.

And the PWs are a good cable. They are easy to assemble, any length you need, no loss of tone and are sturdy. About the only thing I can see that I really like better about the George L's are that the plug is smaller, but that's it.
