Pearce vs. Sansamp for Overdrive (with clips)

Sign in to disble this ad
So over the past year I've been going back and forth between my Pearce BC-1 and my Sansamp for OD. I suppose I could run them both and switch back and forth, but I'm trying to cut down on what gear I drag around etc. I play through Markbass amps if it makes a difference.

I'll be doing some A/B-ing to from my own opinion, but I thought I'd throw this out to get some comments and what not. Part of the fun of being a cork sniffer about gear is talking about it, right?

Clip one is P-bass-Sansamp-Markbass LMII-Ampeg 8x10

Ace of Spades

Clip two is P-bass-Pearce-LM II-8X10

WARNING: My band taking on "The Nuge"

If want just overdrive, get an actual overdrive and not a pre-amp that can get some dirt. Or do you just want a little bit of grit?

That's where I get lost; I tend to think of grit and dirt as pretty much the same thing.

I couldn't hear much difference. I don't think it matters very much.
Try "pushing the front end" of those pedals if you want to get more distortion out of them - an eq pedal or something like that before the Sansamp with it's level up will get more drive out of the sansamp. Or, just get an overdrive pedal.

One nice thing about the Pearce is that it's two channel and footswitchable. Now that we're heading into fall (no more outside shows) I think I'm going to throw the Pearce in a rack and use it with my Berlin combo.

Besides, I can always put the sansamp in front of that with little hassle.
