Pedal Addiction - Seriously, a real problem?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm sitting here practicing just looking at my two current pedalboards.... 24 pedals total. I have about 2 dozen assorted other pedals in boxes and on my work bench - I can't stop.

What's worse, is that I live only 15 minutes from pedalgeek and Dan knows me personally. It's like an uncontrollable desire to have a "new toy"

How do I *you* stop the addiction? Most of my guitar playing friends don't have even close to the number of pedals I have or even care that much about it.

What is it with us?.... seriously?

Restrict myself to a Pedaltrain Mini. And be super picky.

Current planned line-up: fuzz, fuzz, fuzz, chorus, delay.

That's 5 pedals.... I don't like odd numbers.

And NO... ditching a pedal is not an option so I would have to add another.... and so it continues.

Yes I do, the problem is the people that keep bring up the word "intervention" they don't get how useful they are and how pedals are like paintbrushes and paints, you need different colors and ways to apple those colors to achieve a tonal landscape of beauty!

Looks like you might need a nice tuner too if that's the case

It's bad, real bad, but I love it! Gets even worse when you spend a extended period of time out of a band. You turn yourself into a alchemist of audio, twisting knobs and stomping buttons, changing effect orders.
It starts getting boring so you add another pedal or three.
HELP! forget I said that. I need HELP! Shut up stupid. Don't listen to him it's my other me, the one that keeps me up all night wispering no more pedals.
On another note I will report that the SS/BS TAFM might cause liver failure, abnormal heart beats, deep chest compression and brain damage to large animals.

Oh yeah, tuner offboard. And a couple pedals sit on my headboard, tucked away..

This is exactly one of the problems. I started spending an extravagent amount of money once I stopped playing regular gigs.

I think some of you addicts need to do the right thing, and just give away your stuff. That's the first stage.

Anybody want my addy?

I was setting up for my last show this past Tuesday, and when I dropped the pedalboard on the ground the soundman came up to me and said "Lemme guess - you're the lead guitarist."

I said "No, I'm the bassist."

He just looked at me and then walked away quietly... I think I'm in denial about my 'problem'

Until you're exceptionally hungry and can't get food, or notably without a place of your own because you've been kicked out, you're probably in OK shape.

Besides, it beats having 24 amps strewn about the house.
