| | | | Depending on your budget, there are other things that would give you other odd sounds....any idea specifically what you are after? I have one of those and love it, even tho it gets a lot of hate, justifiably so in some cases. Of course, it was my first pedal. But anyway, if you have any clips of exactly what you want it would be much easier to help you.

I love it. But it's been only used for solo stuff. Never found any uses in my bands.

| | I hate. | | Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: The state of denial. | | | A lot of effects are not designed to handle particularly hot signals, and the circuits can clip (distort) in very unpleasant ways as a result. I deal with this constantly, since the output of my bass is hotter than Satan's *******.

| | | | I used one of those with an active bass and it was fine. Not all active basses are super loud (just like not all passive basses are quiet than active ones).
It sounds kind of artificial, though. There's some cool sounds in it, but none of them are as good as stacking the right effects for your synth sound.
In the right settings, though, you can get some really cool digital distortions.

I mainly use the octave Envelope Sub with the Sens at about 7 o'clock and the Control & Range at about 2 o'clock. Nice thick and bubbly tone, great for solos. I got mine used on the bay for $40. I mainly play a passive jazz through it but also use an active pj and there is a difference but it's mostly in the fingering pressure as far anything with the filter goes. I run my comp right after it so that really help clean up some of the unwanted peaks too.

Usually have it on when I'm rehearsing by myself with a drum machine, just for pure fun. Bought it for 50 $ on the Bay and I can tell you it's not the worse 50 $ I spent. Sometimes, you just get a pedal for fun, and not a specific purpose.
IMHO/IMHE and whatever other acronym you want to tag this post with...
