Pedal artwork: Adhesive printer paper?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm nearing the end of the artwork phase of my Wooly Mammoth clone, and am trying to figure out the most accurate way to get the artwork I have from paper to the pedal.

Has anyone had good results using adhesive printer paper, then covering that with clear coat?

Will the clear coat help seal the paper down, or will the paper eventually peel up through the clear coat?

Will the clear coat eat away at the paper, or will it be okay?

Now that you mention it, it would be similar to how it's done on a headstock. I'm sure the decals used on headstocks are of higher quality and are more robust than adhesive printer paper though.

Get some waterslide decal paper. That's what many people use for the artwork of their pedals, as well as under the clear coat on headstocks. It's much easier (and a LOT safer!) than doing an acid etching, less tedious than doing stenciled paint work, and cheaper than silk screening.

I've done this on PC cases way back when with good results. Never had a decal peel up under the clear coat on me before.
