Pedal board DC/AC Problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all. So to preface this thread, I should briefly describe my board. I have a Trex fuel tank junior powering all my pedals, which provides a clean 9v of DC power to them. The power is carried to the pedals via a short cable with male fittings on both ends of it. so the cables plug INTO the fuel tank junior and then INTO my pedal. Well i just recently bought the last piece to my pedal board puzzle, and it has caused a problem i didnt foresee. I bought the digitech whammy....and it takes 9v AC power. So essentially, my fuel tank junior is useless to this pedal. The male plugs wont even fit into the pedal. The whammy did come with its own power supply, but plugging that into a power strip or wall outlet causes noise i was trying to, and previously WAS, avoiding. Without out the whammy, my pedal board was virtually noise-less. Any suggestions on ways to get my fuel tank to power my whammy? is it even possible? I was curious if there was some sort of converter that i could buy that would take the 9v dc cord from the fuel tank, plug into it, and then convert to 9v AC power and a cord that would fit into the whammy? Any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry, I wish it was that simple! You either need to use the adapter that came with the whammy, or get a power supply with both dc and ac outputs (like the full size Fuel Tank).

Your Fuel Tank won't power the whammy. The only route is the Modtone Powerplant. It's got a 1000ma 9V AC output which you can plug your Whammy into.

Whoops! I missed that it needed 9v 820ma....

Other options include:

-Burkey Flatliner
-Sherlock Amplifiers Pedal Power Supply
-SKB PDU12 (Rackmount) or built into the PS-55 pedalboard
