Pedal Board - Need help and suggestions

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey there,

I need some help from you guys....

I currently have the following setup on by board:
Boss TU-2.... goes to
Tech 21 VT Bass.... goes to
Morley Volume/wah/distortion... goes to
MXR M-80.

Do you suggest any better order to connect these pedals?

Also I am experiencing EQ problems (since both the M-80 & VT Bass have EQs for their own).

Please suggest!

Cheers

Try putting the vt after the morley and if you don't use the m-80's DI out put the vt after the m-80 as well. I'd leave the m-80 eq flat and use the vt to eq.

Maybe just get rid of the m-80

In the end you should just try a whole bunch of stuff and then go with what sounds best. For eqing try to get a feel for what eq curve you like and then try to get there with what you have.

I actually like putting my vt bass before my fuzz/overdrive as well. I feel like it boosts the signal from my bass to a level the od/fuzz pedals can work with better..

But the common consensus is everything else -> vt

The advantage of the vt after is that it smooths out the dirt because of the speaker sim (5K treble roll off).

@Bootzilla: You suggest I get rid of the M-80??
From my whole setup I feel that the M-80 is boosting the overall level.....

I am trying to achieve a good low end but I also like to have some good OD running.... howeve my low ends are all muffled....

Maybe I need a bigger amp too.... the BA300 aint good enough for me I suppose...

Guyz,

a friend of mine suggested I include a graphic EQ in the chain?

Any suggestions on this?

I doubt that adding another EQ to the mix is going to help. Why don't you explain how you have each component set and what you use it for. For example, do you use the VT as an always-on preamp, or as an overdrive that you turn on for specific moments?

And do you use your m-80 for overdrive, eq, DI or a combination of those? If you mean by "the m-80 is boosting the overall level" that it just boosts the volume then I wouldn't keep it. There are level boosters out there for 40$ (EHX LPB-1) who can do the same and for boosting the level you could also turn up your VT bass or your amp.

Just focus on what you want to achieve. Do you have a specific sound in mind? If not you should first focus on finding what sort of sound you want and then focus on what equipment you could use to get there.

My VT is always on, and if you are familiar with the M80 it got a color button (which is a preset EQ), i keep that on as well and than i adjust the Bass/mi/tre knobs....

I keep my VT as my main over driven sounds, I switch it off for cleaner and less heavy parts....

find a song by an italian band on youtube.... Band is Verdena, the song is Valvonauta, that the sound I want!!!

please help guys
