Pedal board upgrade?

Sign in to disble this ad
so after thoughts of shedding some gear, i realized i no longer need the "huge" real estate of my SKB PS-45.

i'm getting rid of a VP jr, BassDrive, Sonic Stomp, and probably my Boss PS-3. which leaves only my M9 w/expression pedal, OC-3, Morley ABY, and BassSqueeze.

so i'm thinking of down-grading to a smaller board... like a PT-something. but should i keep my SKB-45 and leave all that empty space? (i do NOT want to get any more pedals. i really have to learn to live with less!)

keep your SKB if you've ever thought of having a bass/acoustic/synth/guitar setup for switching and routing of your practice space or onstage.

Yess we're bass players but outboard gear and line selectors could really use that thing.

there's no rule that says every inch of board should be covered.
leave yourself some room and it will be extra foot-friendly.

The thing is with big pedal boards, whether they are full up or not, you have to lug them around. I say if funds allow, get something smaller.

However, I will also add, keep the SKB for a while too - unless you're absolutely skint and really need the money - you never know, it may come in useful again one day. I've been through phases of stripping right back to basics, only to add a couple of things back later down the line. Although I'm not carting around nearly as much gear as I used to.

thanks for the advice, guys.

i think i'll stick with the SKB for now.
part of my OCD is to have a nice, neat board that looks clean and sounds great.
now i just need some buyers for my used stuff...
