Pedal that does A/B and A+B?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a microkorg, and I want to be able to play it through my bass amp without having to unplug everything. So I was thinking the easiest to do would be with some some kind of an A/B box that would allow to play either one of the instruments. but then I was thinking that if I want to mess around a bit with loop and stuff, I might want to be able to play both instruments together, so I would need a third option that mixes both signals (A+B).

Is does something like that exist? all A/B boxes I saw were allowing the opposite, i.e splitting the signal to two amps.. although it's true that I didn't look much

hmm I guess the Boss would be +/- ok but I would rather have something that allows me to change between each setting (A or B or A+B) just using the footswitch. Looking at the Boss though, it makes me want an additional setting - being able to control the volume of each input like the LS-2 seems to do.

any other idea?

Radial big shot, morley ABY, ART cool switch all do that. I haven't heard good things about the morley, or much about either of the other two.

I have and use the ART switch. It works perfectly as an ABY, but since its passive, you can't control channel volume. I don't find this to be all that big of a deal, but its a deal breaker for some people

A Loop Master A/B/Y pedal is as above. I have one and think its great, very cheap also.

Any passive A/B/Y or A/B will also work in "reverse". Ignore the "input" & "output" nomenclature. There's no reason you cannot use the 2 outputs as inputs...

Would you have any impedance or phase issues with that?

Hey guys.
I'm no expert, but maybe try looking at the EBS Microbass2 thing.
Just go on the EBS website - www.bass.se - and you should be able to find it. I use a few EBS things and I do love them so I'm sure this is worthy of some attention.
Goodluck with your search.

well if it's just wires driving a signal, there shouldnt be a problem I think.. not 100% sure though

unfortunately it's just like the LS-2, you can't have A or B or A+B with just one switch

I think I'll have to go with a passive switcher, less expensive and less hassle.. hopefully I can manage to get a fairly equivalent signal between the bass and the micro korg

Not inherently with a passive A/B or A/B/Y.

Impedance problems can appear when running A+B into Y depending on the types of passive vs active electronics being employed as well as any tone pots utilised, etc...
For instance, two passive basses running parallel into one input will both be affected by the use of one of the instruments tone knobs.

there might be diodes in line that prevent current from running backward.

id check loopmaster. they make everything. and fairly cheap.

I've used a Morley ABY to run 2 instruments into 1 amp. It works fine, except for the tone control coupling.
