Pedal EQ when alternating Slap and fingerstyle?

Sign in to disble this ad
TBers,

to cut thropugh the mix I usally emphasize a bit the Mids, btu when I slap, I rather like the opposite, does it happen to you as well?

If so, how do you alternate EQ settings while using fingerstyle and slap in the same song? Is a EQ pedal worth the money? Any reccommendation if you think a EQ pedal is adviceable?

Thanks a lot, Paolo

Using a pedal EQ that you can easily switch on and off for when it's needed and for when it's not can be very effective. Some amplifiers have footswitchable EQ section that will let you do this, but otherwise you can get a decent EQ for relatively cheap. The Boss Bass EQ and the MXR 10 Band EQ are decent and both reasonably priced, and I would recommend either of those to you for switching between your fingerstyle and slap tones. Also look into the Seymour Duncan Paranormal Bass Preamp, it's basically Seymour Duncan's active bass preamp, which also happens to include a separate switch which scoops the mids for a slap tone.
