Pedal Freaks...Help Please

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok guys...i just built a new board same size as the Pedal Train Pro 32" x 16" basically it is full except for 1 spot....and that's where you come in....help me fill it!

currently the board contains

Sansamp Bass DI
Radial EHX Loop pedals
Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah
Vodoo lab Sparkle Drive
Boomstick Bottom Feeder
Bass Big Muff
Boss OC-3
Digitech Bass Multi Chorus

I play Hard Rock, a little Punk, and mostly Stoner/Sludge/Doom, so i don't have a use for some pedals at all (dirt is pretty well covered)....I have compressors..don't really care for them...and i don't have much use for envelope filters...(in fact i just sold/traded two of them away) so what else would be of use? the blank spot is driving me nuts...(just a little OCD)

oh and already powering everything with one spots...(so no need for a brick)

P.S. will post pics when the paint dries...

Edit...(pic)

You need a phaser.

Why? I mean echo or delay or whatever you want to call it. You need an analog echo unit for Stoner music.

Boss DD-7. I love mine like Rosie O'Donnel and Snickers (I'm sorry, that was uncalled for).

I've heard phaser in what I would consider Sludge or Stoner bands, that's why I thought of it. The right phaser sounds incredible with bass distortion or fuzz.

True. I think that flangers sound great with a mild distortion or a good overdrive. My second recomendation would definately be a delay prefferably analog, and at least get a 300 ms delay to get some cool syncopated delay type stuff. Maxon is a little pricey but they're great. I would test the delay pedals out before you buy one though because I thought that digital delays were great (which they are) but they are not for me. Just my .02.

God Bless,
JBP

yeah...a slicer could be cool, but I think you should get a reissue Ampeg Scrambler.

It's easily my fave gritty octave fuzz and really sounds amazing on bass.

I love delay but don't know how it'd fit your band,

Your pedalboard seems pretty full.

I think a BMS would have a really solid spot on your board too though.

Boss OC-3
Vodoo lab Sparkle Drive
Bass Big Muff

SCREAMER

BASS MICROSYNTH

Boomstick Bottom Feeder

PHASER

Digitech Bass Multi Choru

ANALOG DELAY

BOSS SLICER

Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah
Sansamp Bass DI

That probably fills it up more than you'd use in that band of yours.
Have fun.

May sound a little "out of place", but I come from a stoner/fuzz/desert rock band, whatever you want to call it, and after a really long gig, one time, with over 30 stoner bands, I was pretty tired of the "typical" bass fuzz into massive rig sound of all basses: band after band of the same basic, fuzzy low end heavy stoner bass tone (throw a couple of ric's 4003, gibson rippers and P- basses to add to the tiredness of it all). Then came a band, very school level, but with a distinct bass sound: in all the slow, you know, reaaallly slow psych parts of some songs, he used a very nice Tremolo (think it was a Pulsar, not so shure). It reminded me of Led Zeppelin's Heartbreaker (listen to that bass). VEEERY NICE for a stoner bassist, altogether with all your dirt. Octave down is always useful, though typical.

I love tremolo on bass. That's a good suggestion. A slow throb can give a very ominous note to heavy stuff.

As a side note, I believe the bass effect in Heartbreaker isn't tremolo, but the bass going through a leslie speaker.
