Hello all.
I need a pedal to mute my rig because my preamp does not have a mute switch. If you have any ideas let me know. Must be true bypass and a no noise(none that I can hear at least) also if I can mod my...

Barge concepts VFB-2 to do so let me know how, or if I can mod my presonus tube pre to mute, let me know how.

If I go with a pedal that mutes I would like to to be able to do another effect as well so I am not lugging around a mute switch.
****Edit****
I use the barge blend for my effects, so I need it. I don't use the feedback portion. I don;t need a tuner, but I guess it couldn't hurt.

I guess any pedals thta do something besides tune Thanks for the replies guys.

Thanks
Jonathan

You dont even need to mod your Barge to mute, IIRC. Since its a Blend pedal, can't you blend in 100% of nothing, and count that as muted?

An A/B pedal could also do muting as well. Use the other out for a tuner. Loopmaster makes a very nifty matchbox sized one, for $40, its the niftiest thing i've ever seen. i'll get a pic up.

Here it is : http://www.loop-master.com/product_i...roducts_id=116

...and if you need it to have an extra function, then get a Peterson Strobostomp. It's one of the best tuners available, and it mutes and has true bypass. For that matter, the Korg DT tuner, though not TBP, is reputed to have an equally good buffered bypass, and it mutes and tunes as well.

And to add to bongo, many people beleive having a buffered pedal as the first in your signal chain actually helps your chain work better by reducing signal loss.

I revised the first post. These are great ideas, however not what I was hoping for.

Maybe a sansamp PDDI? I could keep one channel all the way off...hmm. If I could only find another one for $80 in a guitar shop But something more along these lines.

Using a PDDI as a mute is an option, yes, but you'll lose one of the 3 channels. I used to use a BDDI (the non programmable one) as a mute by turning the active volume all the way down, and only using it passively as a DI. However, that's a big waste, considering using it this way negates all the effect a BDDI is supposed to bring to your tone.

At that time I liked the raw tone of my bass, so it was ok.

+1

I use a Boss ODB-3 as mute these days since I can't afford a Peterson, and I usually just need it for switching basses

No good if you're trying to kill the pop when switching between 2 basses...

And to the OP, really, a mute switch pedal is so small that i don't think you'll feel its any extra hassle to bring one along.
