Pedal Order Dilemma

Sign in to disble this ad
I got a Maxon AF-9, Maxon CP9Pro +, and a Xotic BB Preamp.

I prefer the comp before the BB preamp
the comp after the AF-9 filter
and the bb preamp before the af-9.

What do I do!??

I like the synthy sounds of dirt into af-9 and the compressor after the af-9 tames it down in a great way. I just don't like compression after dist.

Easiest answer: when using the AF-9, switch on only the effect that is most complimentary in that moment. IOW don't leave the comp on 100% of the time. I know that's by no means a perfect solution, but it's the best I got.

There is a pedal that allows you to switch the order of your other pedals, but I don't know how well it works or whether there are drawbacks (aside from price and pedalboard real estate).

I think it's cheaper to buy a second BB.
