It's such a surprise that such an agressive player hasn't had a compressor on his board before now. I'm sure his signal would have been considerably compressed in the studio by Rick Rubin on their albums and on the desk out front. I must say i can notice a more 'in the pocket' sound that i've not heard on previous albums in the lastest RHCP effort. His sound is less in your face and more conventional - i like it (i think)....(it always takes a lil time for great albums to grow on me)... |
