It sounds like an envelope filter to me, but can do a lot more. It doesn't drop in volume, actually there's a slight boost I think. Either way, I love it.
Anybody else have any opinions on these? Any tips on how to use it to its full potential |

I recommend getting an expression pedal (Roland EV-5) to really get mileage out of it; you can use it to sweep the modulation like a wah, but it definitely sounds different from your average wah because it's a phaser. And that's just one way to use an expression pedal with it.
The volume boost can be annoying, I always use a limiter so it wasn't a problem but for someone who doesn't, it might be worth the investment.

The envelope filter mode is disabled since the envelope is being controlled manually by the expression pedal, although all you have to do is unplug the expression pedal and it's back in business. Hope that helps.

Just picked a Pigtronix Envelop Phaser up from Guitar Center Used Gear - and suprise! It came w/o the power supply.
Anyone know if I can run this off of a 1Spot? (And if I can also run 3 other 9v pedals simultaneously...
Otherwise I'm going to have to get my hands on a power supply from Pigtronix.
Thanks!

Thanks! | Is it the EP1 or EP2? The EP2 runs at 18 V and the EP1 has an odd requirement as well either 18V or something weird like 15 V. I haven't had mine for years so my memory is hazy. You MIGHT be able to use a 1Spot if you could wire a pair of the 9V plugs together, but I'd ask Visual Sound and Pigtronix before trying anything like that.
Probably easiest just to buy a new power supply. |

My EP-1 has the sweep mod and with the sensitivity off it works as phase wah. turn up the sensitivity or put in LFO mode and it controls amount of sweep.
most useful feature on the whole pedal.
