Power - Can you use batteries AND a 1Spot?

Howdy,

I was wondering exactly how a pedal chooses it`s power supply. In other words, if I were to put batteries in a short series of pedals(say 3) and were to also plug them all into a 1Spot multi-power, would the pedals run off of the 1Spot or the batteries or both? I`m curious because I`ve heard people say that they`ve had their 1Spots go out on them with no warning and were stuck with no pedals to continue a show, or at least until their next break. I figured a good prevention of this situation would be to already have batteries in the pedals - assuming that the 1Spot would power them unless it broke, in which case you can continue the show with no problem thanks to the batteries.

Thanks

The DC jack actually contains a switch that is activated when you plug a plug into it. This switch disconnects the battery. Pull the plug out, and the battery reconnects.

True for most pedals. Unfortunately not true for Pitchblack...

Now that`s really cool!

Thanks!

Shame to hear the pitchblack doesn`t work like that Oh well, I`ll always carry a standard tuner with me just in case.

the pitchblack, however, seems to draw VERY little current from the battery when connected to DC. But still, the LED lights up and that could drain it while in a board case/bag...I've never had a OneSpot fail on me though, so I fell safe.
