power supply or not?

Sign in to disble this ad
i dont want to be buying 9v battery's all the time, so im looking for something to prevent that. i know alot of people recommend the voodoo lab pp2 but i dont think i need that as i only have 2 pedals. im looking for something less exspensive. the pedals that i have are a boss oc-2 apparently the older ACA version, and i have a fulltone bass drive coming in the mail soon. maybe ill get a chorus or tuner later but for now thats it.

As long as none of your pedals are especially finicky about sharing a common ground with other pedals, a cheap daisy-chain like the One Spot or Dunlop Brick will be fine. However for best results with the ACA pedal, you'll want one output that is higher than 9V. About 12V would be best. So shop for an inexpensive supply with at least one 10-15V outlet, and you're good.

+1. One Spot daisy chains are the way to go.

Ok, so with a boss pedal, sometimes you get a power supply that plugs into the wall, familiar w/ those? So you plug that into the wall and you have a 9v adapter on that. What a 1Spot does is, if gives you that wall adapter, but then it gives you a Daisy Chain to continue that power thru to other pedals.

This one comes w/ the adapter to the wall, the daisy chain, and also other adapters if a pedal that you get doesn't take a standard 9v. Only problem that you might come to is with an 18v pedal, but Godlyke makes an adapter that puts two 9vs together to get your 18

i think the 1spot would work perfect for me if all im using for now is the
Boss-oc-2 (ACA version), and a Fulltone bass drive mosfet?

Don't laugh, but I bought a Behringer peadalboard, comes with a onespot-like power supply, daisy-chain power cable and a bunch of really cheap patch cables. 99 bucks, but mine had a reversed latch so one side wouldn't close right, so I got 30 bucks off. Fixed the latch real quick, works good now!

Powering 2 amp modelers, a RAT dist, compressor and a couple of modulation pedals without breaking a sweat. Power supply doesn't even get warm, No hum problems, all the LED's stay bright.

Kind of like getting a power supply with a peadalboard thrown in free. I even hooked an old shoulder strap from a laptop bag to it. With a gig bag on one shoulder for my axe, board on the other, I can walk in hands-free and play, (as long as the PA can handle bass), no hassle at all.

Here's hopin' it holds together.

at different venues i get different results with a 1Spot.

at some places, there will be no noise, while at other places, powering with the 1spot gives me a high pitched hum.

so at those places, I'll use batteries instead.
