Power Supply for old DOD

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've purchased a couple old DODs (FX35 and FX25) and when I purchased them I realized that they don't use a conventional power supply. They seem to use a headphone size plug (although I'm not positive.) Basically I'm asking, what power supplies are usable with these? Would a onespot be my best bet?

You can get an adapter for the onespot or any of the other daisy chain supplies. It's a 1/8" male plug just like a headphone plug. The main thing to know is that for many pedals that use those, including DOD, Digitech, and Demeter, the plugs are + tip, - sleeve, the opposite of the Boss plugs.

Another thing is that the original supplies for those were 10VDC, not 9. I have found a couple of pedals where that one volt made an audible difference in the performance of the pedal. But some other pedals, it makes no audible difference, and 9V won't hurt the pedal either way.

FWIW, you can still get the "original" wall warts at GC or any other big shop. They are labeled "Harman International", or sometimes DOD/Harman or Digitech/Harman; 10VDC, +tip, 1/8" male plug.

Yeah, I've been curious about what my FX32 would sound like with a 10V PSU. I've been running it off the 1Spot, and it sounds fine, but I'm curious if it'd make a world of difference. Probably going to have to find out sometime and see if it's worth the extra wall wort coming off my board...

Yeah, I can't imagine 1V would make a lot of difference but you never know...I might even try it if you do and say it does.
