Power Supply Options for Small Board

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently sold my multi-effects pedal to buy stomp pedals and need suggestions for how to power them.

I want to power the following chain:

Pitchblack Tuner>EBS Multi Comp>Sansamp VT>Chorus (unknown brand).

Do I need to invest in something like a Voodoo Labs PP2 (could buy alot of 9v's for $160)?

EBS' manual for the multi-comp adapter said it could power other pedals. Is that an option?

Thanks

I don't use effects much if at all so my thoughts on this might not weigh in heavily, but why not just get all the A/C adapters for these pedals and just attach a power strip/surge protector to your board?

For that many pedals, buy a daisy chain with a decent mA draw. Onespot, etc

I'd rather have as few ac adapters as possible and I should have stated I'd like to just throw the stomp pedals I'm using into my gigbag so I'd like to not buy/bring a pedal board.

The visual sound onespot sounds like an option.

The reason to pay $100 for that instead of the onespot is the isolated outputs of this one will work if you ever buy a pedal which uses a reverse-polarity power plug, which is where the onespot will often fail.

If all your pedals are the same polarity though, the onespot will do you fine.

You could get something like the T-rex Fuel Tank Jr. with five isolated 9v outputs - no hum, ever!

At least here in Europe they're much cheaper (like 1/3rd) than the PP2.

What's the difference between the T-Rex and the Dunlop power brick?

The Dunlop's outputs are not isolated, it is essentially the same as a 0nespot but in a "brick" shape.

Second that, the Fuel Tank Jr. is a great little product!

The Trex jr is $100 and the PP2 is $170. Almost half.

I know it is from there. If you do not need 8 outputs or the 110 AC the FT jr. would be a good deal.

If I have enough dough left after my pedal purchases, I will buy the Trex, if not I will go with the 1spot.

Thanks to all.

just get the one spot. Very nice and does exactly what it's supposed to do. You could also get a tu-2 and the daisy chain for it. That works quite well too. Only gripe I had with it was there wasn't enough length between points.

I would say get the 1-spot, and if you get hum from that get the fueltank jr.

Do you have to buy the 1spot power adaptor or could I just use a 500MA adapter that I already have with the 1 spot daisy chain? I'm only going to be powering 3 pedals, and I really don't feel like buying a $20 adapter if I already have one that will work. It will be powering a Korg Pitchblack, Sanamp BDDI and an undetermined fuzz.
