Power Threshold of Line 6 DL4?

Sign in to disble this ad
I know that you're supposed to use recommended adaptors but.... On the back of the DL4 it was "Required Input 9VAC 1200mA minimum", I have a spare adaptor with an out put of "9V 1.5 Amps", could I use this with the DL4 without frying/adversely effecting it in anyway since it states "Required Input 9VAC 1200mA minimum"? Sorry for the Noobesque question and thanks in advance!

The other adaptor should be OK if its output is AC, not DC. The line-6 stuff needs AC power rather than DC.

That said, most adaptors that people just have lying around put out DC power, which will not work and should not be tried out on something that needs AC input...

SteveMcB is right. You must use a AC power adapter for the Line 6.

Don't be alarmed by the 1.5A output. That's just the maximum it can deliver. It only gives what the effect will draw, and the Line 6 will pull about 1200mA or less, but your supply needs to be rated above that. It will be fine.

Typically you want 1.5-2x as much as you will draw. And you can't break anything by having using less than 1200mA. It won't work right, if at all, but nothing will break or burn up.

Actually, the **4 modelers can run on either AC or DC. The new M13 and M9 multis need AC power.

I've been running my DL4 and FM4 from a 1spot (DC power) with no problems. Just make sure you use a reverse polarity adapter if you're powering the pedal with something like a 1spot, Powerall etc.
