Powering a MB Super Synth

hey there all!

so, i have a mini board i'm using a Dunlop DC Brick for power on. there are 7 pedals being powered on it right now fine through the 9 volt outputs. the Brick has 7 9 volt outs and 2 18 volt outs.

i just added a Mark Bass Super Synth to this board (great pedal!), and i don't know if there is a safe way to power it with the brick or if i need to get a different power supply.

i can daisy chain one of the pedals to be on.the same 9 volt out and plug the MB SS in to a 9 volt or plug the MB SS into a 18 volt out.

the problem is that the MB SS's manual says it's power requirements are 12 volts dc, 550 ma minimum.

do i need to get something like the T-Rex Chameleon? is there a way to get the DC Brick to work? any other suggestions?

thanks!

I think the T. Rex Fuel Tank has one 12v, 500ma power slot, which might work (dunno). Other than that, it's pretty much the wall wart.

yeah.... that's kinda what i figured. i just got an email back from somebody at MarkBass and they said "DON'T BE STUPID. do NOT use the Brick for it.".

durn it. oh well, guess i'm power supply hunting now!

.... i have like the antithesis of GAS for spending money on..... power.

thanks Smurf 0!

There's also the PPII+, which has the courtesy AC outlet. You could plug the wall wart into that.

yeah.... i have one of those on my big board. and it's a nice power supply with a pretty sh*t design. the courtesy outlet end up being bracketed by two metal supports on the PT PRO so you it's a huge butt-pain to have something permanently plugged into it, and on the PT 1 it looks like it would be inaccessible if i mounted it underneath.

it's not that bad the way it is now..... i just was hoping i could get by with one outlet needed 'stead of two. guess i keep bringing the multi head extension cord.

woot.

Sorry to bump and old thread but I have a solution...

You can get the job done with a T-Rex Chameleon.

Use a current doubling (parallel) Y cable with 2 of the 12v outputs which would give you 600mA at 12v DC. Do NOT use a Y cable that puts the power in series as it would combine to make 24v and probably destroy your (expensive) pedal.

Problem solved

Zombie thread because I'm wondering about this. I'm working on a pedal board with a MBSS and an Eventide Pitchfactor. When I use it for guitar, the MBSS is swapped for a Morpheus Droptune. There are also a few standard 9V stompboxes. I'm not really keen to spend a lot of money on a power supply, but I'm considering it for convenience.
