Powering more than one effect.

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently saw a dunlop power converter which could power 2 18volt and 4 9v effects.
I have recently bought a mxr bass blowtorch, and have a qtron+ (old design) and i want to use both on power. I bought the qtron from germany so it already has to go through a converter.

The problem being that the qtron+ needs 24volts and bass blowtorch 18volts and i can see myself adding effects (only a few). Does any body know of a product to power both my q-tron and bass blowtorch etc.

Thanks!

(oh and i'm in england if that makes any difference)

Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 should work with appropriate adaptors to power both and have room left over for more.

I don't really know, but is powering an EXH Q-Tron+ without using the original 24V power supply kind of risky... ?

24V is 24V is 24V. Why would it be risky? There's nothing mystical about the EH supplies.

I hear that the EHX pedals don't actually require power... they just expell so much MOJO that they need a jack to dispose of the byproducts from making it. They could just get rid of it through the ground, but I heard that they tried it, and it interfered with the clean mojo sound going through the same cable... so they had to include a seperate jack to get rid of it. They just disguised it as a power jack to make things easier for us normies...

and that is why you have to use the adapters they come with

Any by mojo you mean terrible hum and buzz that renders their pedals useless?

Nope. I've done it with the Bass Micro Synthesizer using a Voodoo Lab PP2+. All you need to do is make sure that:

- it gets a regulated 24VDC input
- it gets sufficient available current (100mA is a good minimum, since the original supply is rated at that)
- you use the appropriate plug (2.5mm center-positive barrel)

They're not difficult requirements to meet if you have a good, flexible supply like the Voodoo Lab.

But whatever you do... don't ever put those giant EHX pedals in daisy chains with other pedals. I started a whole thread on that little problem a while back...

those are their mistake designs (the ones where they let some MOJO byproducts go through the ground)
