Powering my pedals

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there,

I've been building up my pedal collection (replacing old, low quality ones with better quality etc), and I have got to the stage where I still have a couple of pedals to get, and I am thinking about powering my pedals.

I currently have:

Rocktron Black Cat Moan Wah
Digitech Bass Synth Wah
Marshall Jackhammer
Electro Harmonix Little Big Muff
Boss PH-3 Phaser
Electro Harmonix Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai
Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor

I am planning on buying:

Electro Harmonix XO Q-Tron +
EBS MultiComp
Korg DT-10

*Maybe* a DOD FX-25 but not certain

All of these are 9V Neg Centre, except for the Q-Tron, which is 24V. It looks like I am going to have at least 9 9V pedals, and maybe 10 as well as the 24V pedal. So I am not going to be able to run everything off a Voodoo or DC Brick.

OneSpot is not an option because you can't get them for the UK.

So maybe daisy chaining is the way to go? I'm still going to have to have a separate adapter for the 'Tron though.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know how much juice these things use? How many mA do I need? Someone told me that the BSW uses 500mA or something ridiculous.

PM Tayste, if he can't hook you up in this department then there is no hookup.

they're listed as a UK dealer for Visual Sound (guys who make the 1-Spot)

you can also use a daisy chain with each of the outlets on the Pedal Power and Brick to power more pedals than outlets, as long as it provides enough juice.

In the UK, you can't go wrong with this one, it's what I have:

http://www.johnnyshredfreak.com/stor...3983d9d54616d9

Has 1500mA on tap, useable at 100v-240v, it's regulated and very quiet. That should be enough for 10 pedals, but if you're right about the 500mA draw from the BSW you may be scuppered, although that seems excessive to me. It works fine for my 5 pedals, but I can't guarantee it'll be able to power your collection.

They only sell daisy chains suitable for 8 pedals with straight plugs though, so you may be better off getting a daisy chain elsewhere. On ebay you can get leads with right angled plugs for 6 pedals, 2 of those would do the job.

I agree the Diago looks great, has 3000mA supposedely enough for 30 pedals and costs about £50. The johnnyshredfreak one has half the max output at 1500mA and costs under £20 inc a daisy chain lead and delivery. So make your decision based on how much power you need and your budget!
